Starting in 2027, Tour West is introducing a new lineup of specialty trips that pair the thrill of a classic river adventure with something a little extra. Each trip is built around a special theme or guest host, giving you a fresh way to experience some of the most spectacular canyon country in the West.
You’ll still get everything that makes a Tour West trip unforgettable: exciting whitewater, stunning scenery, comfortable riverside camps, hearty meals cooked along the river, and the kind of western hospitality Tour West is known for. Along the way, you’ll also enjoy dedicated time for learning, conversation, and creativity, led by hosts who bring their own passion and expertise to the river.
Each specialty trip offers something different, so there’s always a new reason to come back to the river. These trips are available for a limited time and space fills quickly, so reserve early and be among the first to experience the river in a whole new way.

Tour West Writers Retreat
May 10-15, 2026
Join award-winning author Sean Prentiss for the Tour West Writers Retreat, four nights on the Colorado River through Cataract Canyon, starting with a half day in Arches National Park. Days bring whitewater, canyon exploration, and relaxed writing sessions, and evenings end around camp with stories about Edward Abbey, the American West, and the places that inspire us. You don’t need to be a writer to come along, just curious and ready to slow down, May 10 to 15, 2027.
